Meeting Cancelled !!
After a very good couple of meetings with new faces , the meeting planned for Monday 22nd July has been cancelled. This is due to a church service being held on the Monday afternoon. This service is in remembrance of the life of a long time member of the church who recently passed away. We thought it respectful not to disrupt this service with our meeting in the adjacent room. With the bank holiday at the end of the month the next meeting will now be the Monday of the second week in August Regards Mike D

Michelle Merrivale kindly came along and offered hand massages, which was the ultimate stress reliever!!. Thanks Michelle. Here are the details of the meetings: The Meeting Room, Biggleswade Baptist Church, London Road, Biggleswade Date: 2nd & 4th Monday of each month (excluding Bank Holidays) Time: 1pm until 3pm No Entrance Fee but donations welcome.

A Very Good Meeting

The group had a very good meeting last week and we had 3 new attendees. All said they were very pleased with finding us and so it look like we are on the right track. Very soon we have slot on "Biggles FM" our local radio station, where Gina and Karen will be promoting the group. More about that soon. Meanwhile our name is getting around and we have a very kind invitation from Macmillan Cancer Support as follows:- Macmillan Cancer Support has big plans to change cancer care for people in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. You may already be aware of the new Macmillan Cancer Centre that is being built at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage. We would like to invite you to an event to tell you more about the new centre, the support that Macmillan need with the build and development of the centre and how you can help to support people living with cancer in your community. We are holding an event on Thursday 13th June at 7pm at The Weatherley Centre, Eagle Farm Road, Biggleswade. As a valued supporter of Macmillan and a member of the local community we would be delighted if you could join us at this event. It is the ideal opportunity to find out what improvements Macmillan are making to cancer patients in your community and find out how you can get involved. I have attached a letter and a poster about the event that will give you more information. If you would like to attend please do RSVP to me by Friday 7th June. Please also do extend my invite to your family, friends, colleagues and networks. With kind regards and I hope to see you on 13th June. So there you go ! looking forward to seeing you at the next meeting. See the calendar for dates or email us at the group address shown below.

Hello Everyone
Last night we had our very first committee meeting and now have a core of dedicated volunteers. A total of six people attended and least three others would have come except for last minute issues. So we have at least nine people to help out and we hope more people will come along to the meetings on Monday afternoon and join in.

If you want to pop in between 1pm and 3pm on a Monday afternoon for a chat or a cup of tea we would be very happy to see you - and you don,t have to volunteer for anything !

New Support Group Starts in Biggleswade

Introduction
The Biggleswade cancer Support Group (BCSG) is voluntary self help
organisation. It provides a place for people to give and receive both emotional
and practical support as well as to exchange information. It is open to people
with cancer and cancer related health conditions, as well as their friends and
families.
Purpose
The support group is made up of people with common experiences. People who
have been through, or are going through, a similar circumstance who can do
more than sympathize with you — they can relate to what you are going
through. It is a place where people can meet and share information, get
confirmation that their feelings are "normal," educate each other, or just feel
part of something instead of being alone.
The additional benefits of joining our group is that we aim to make it a great
place to find practical advice and resources. The group will seek to provide
access to information about non medical complimentary therapies, such as
aromatherapy and relaxation.
Meetings.
The group meets for two hours every two weeks on Thursday afternoon at the
community room at the Biggleswade Baptist Church, London road Biggleswade.
This a central location with a nearby bus stop and plenty of free parking. It is a
short walk from the railway station and town centre.
